Marketing & Communications Lead
18-month contract (not employee), potential to extend
Position Description:
Contracted position to provide marketing and communications support to RAIN (www.oregonrain.org). This is an independent contractor position and not an employee position. This person/company will work closely with RAIN’s CEO, Development & Operations Director, Resiliency Program Director, and team of contractors to help us serve and elevate the entrepreneurial ecosystem around the state of Oregon.
Regional Focus: Lane, Linn, Benton, and Grant Counties (other regions could be added over time)
Location: This is a remote position, but the contractor must reside in Oregon
Travel: 15 – 20%

If you can answer yes to all of these questions, RAIN wants to meet you! RAIN is hiring a person or company who considers themselves a “jack of all trades” when it comes to providing marketing and communications support to a high-performance team of entrepreneurs at a non-profit.
Contractor Responsibilities:
Content Strategy, Creation & Promotion: (80%)
- Develop a marketing and communications strategy with measurable outcomes
- Create and promote strategic content (i.e., media releases, newsletters, emails, video, social media campaigns, reports, graphics, presentations, impact reports, web content, etc.)
- Gather and share success stories from entrepreneurs, investors, and RAIN partners/stakeholders
- Draft and pitch media releases, manage media inquiries, speak to the media, and participate in interviews, as needed
- Monitor and update website content
- Monitor and post on our social channels, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram
- Ensure all approaches align with RAIN’s Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion statement/philosophy
- Abide by RAIN’s and our partners’ design and communications standards
Metrics & Reporting: (20%)
- Track metrics and report them back to the team (e.g., opens, click-thru-rates, shares, most/least clicked, other social metrics, etc.)
- Track media mentions and coverage
- Track and report on the happenings in the region’s entrepreneurial community
Qualifications:
- Able to work remotely and support a remote team of contractors located around the state
- Highly organized and able to meet deadlines
- Able to pivot quickly without being flustered
- Detail-oriented and excellent project manager
- Excellent marketing, design, communications, and interpersonal skills
- Extreme bias toward action
- Self-starting ability; willing to innovate and adapt
- Strong leadership qualities
- Inclusive and diplomatic approach at all times
- Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, remain professional and organized, and prioritize follow-up
- Self motivated and able to work collaboratively with individuals from various backgrounds
- Experience with the following technologies: Google Suite, Zoom, Mailchimp, Hubspot CRM, SurveyMonkey, Eventbrite, Expensify, Adobe’s Creative Suite, Canva, Slack, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram
- Understand contractor laws in Oregon
Contractor Fee: $3,500 – $4,000 / month
